The Max Foundation receives recognition in Mexico from AMEH
Edmonds, WA (March 19th, 2009) - The Mexican Organization for the Hematology Research
(AMEH) has recognized the work of The Max Foundation in Mexico with a Certificate
of Appreciation. The event took place at the National Academy of Medicine on March
12th, 2009 with Aaron Ciechanover, Nobel Prize of Chemistry, as the key note speaker.
This year the AMEH celebrates the 50 year anniversary of their efforts in the hematology
field in Mexico. The Max Foundation was recognized as a key partner of the AMEH,
together with the following organizations: AMANC (Mexican Association in help of
Children with Cancer); UNIDOS (Bone Marrow Trasplant Association); Casa de la Amistad
(Children with Cancer); Red Voces (a group of organizations working for the children
with cancer); Hemophilia Federation; AMELEG, chapters Mexico City and Tapachula
(The Mexican Asociation of Leukemia and GIST)
The Max Foundation has collaborated for more than 8 years with key opinion leaders
in the field of cancer in Mexico to provide access to treatment, support, advocacy,
and referrals for patients and caregivers touched by blood cancer and rare cancers.
Pat Garcia-Gonzalez, Executive Director of The Max Foundation received the award
on behalf of the organization. Last year Pat was one of the recipients of the Golden
Tennis Shoe Award by US Senator, Patty Murray, for her contributions to the community.
