José Carreras is a world famous Spanish opera singer who gained fame as one of The Three Tenors, singing alongside Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti. While you may be familiar with his voice, you may not know his story. In this personal video conversation with the esteemed Professor Tariq Mughal, we hear from tenor José Carreras, telling his story about his diagnosis with leukemia, his odds of survival and how he managed to get the care and support he needed to beat his cancer and go on to become a true advocate in the field of cancer control. José Carreras turned his diagnosis into a triumph through the creation of the José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation which has furthered cancer research by providing fellowships for more than 30 doctors worldwide.

The video called "Living with Leukemia: A conversation between José Carreras and Professor Tariq Mughal" has been shared courtesy of Professor Mughal, a leading oncologist in the field of leukemia thanks to his organization, the Alpine Oncology Foundation. In the video, Prof. Mughal speaks of his research with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), the specific kind of leukemia that José Carreras faced, and gives us a historical perspective on how far cancer advances have come with regards to this diagnosis and so many others.
