It is time to “Stomp Out Cancer”! Check out the Stomp Out Cancer event map that has now been posted on our website to learn what groups are doing to raise awareness about the importance of healthy living.
This October, 25 patient associations around the world will participate in the 2012 Global Cancer Awareness Campaign by getting physical. The theme of "Stomp Out Cancer" is a way to promote cancer prevention and minimizing risk for cancer recurrence by leading a healthy lifestyle. Participating groups will host events which encourage physical activity to show how we can all take an active role in stomping out cancer in our communities.
Already, we got the following report from a meeting of Eastern European advocates in Yalta, Ukraine where MAX team member, Sukhrob was present. As part of the conference he reports, “Everyone went downstairs, outside of the hotel with T shirts that said “Stomp out Cancer 2012”, with flags with the same Stomp Out Cancer logo and underneath the slogan Stomp out cancer – healthy lifestyles” and participated in a short distance marathon near the coast. During the whole period of the conference, journalists were making a programme for a TV channel of Ukraine about this event. There were interviews and speeches to raise awarness, as well. After lunch the lead dietician in the region presented a very important message about healthy lifestyle and nutrition in oncohematological diseases.”
Photos of events around the world will be posted on The MAX Foundation’s Facebook page, as well as on blogs to follow. If you are participating in a Stomp event, please add your updates, photos and comments for everyone to see so that we can come together to Stomp Out Cancer in 2012!
