As a part of the Stomp Out Cancer campaign, our patient group in the Phillipines, Touched By Max (TBM), recently held an exciting “Bike for Life” event. To promote cancer prevention awareness and healthy living, TBM group members pedaled almost 20 kilometers around the busy streets of Cebu City. As the photos illustrate, the bikers made a big impression with their bright blue Stomp Out Cancer shirts and hats, along with their Maximize Life wristbands—letting everyone know about the campaign to Stomp Out Cancer!
The “Bike for Life” event was inspired by one group member’s passion for biking. Dowell, a 30-year old family man battling CML for more than 10 years, started biking after more than a year ago. Amidst of the uncertainties of being diagnosed with cancer, Dowell found that biking has changed his perspective in life to become a better person and live a more healthy lifestyle. Now, his wife is not only his partner in life, but his pedal partner as well.
In addition to getting exercise and raising awareness on the ways that physical activity can improve one’s health, Touched By Max Cebu also collected and distributed health supply kits to under-served families in their community.
Thank you, Touched by Max, for holding such an eye-catching Stomp Out Cancer event and for the contribution to your community!
