It just took two minutes for four proud individuals standing with me on a stage as far away as possible from the trials and challenges of the cancer community in low resource regions to bring home the message to the Geneva community at the UICC World Cancer Day Gala: people touched by cancer in developing countries care deeply about cancer control because their lives depend on it.
As a proud and humbled group, each one of us spoke with the confidence that emanated from knowing that behind us stood an army of thousands people whose courage knows no limits, and who are only asking to be given every opportunity to beat the disease, and a chance to do it with dignity.
We bring you today a home video of the Maximize Life moment, in acknowledgement of the powerful awareness each of us had in mind: the faces of our friends who lost their battle with the disease appearing in front of our eyes; the presence our supporters back home feeling so real. Thank you for being there with us; we tried our best to make you proud.
