Did you hear about the Inaugural Patient Congress which took place last year in Kuala Lumpur? If you were not in Malaysia for the congress, here is the report which will enable you to “go back and be part of it”.
Two days from now, on 28 April 2011, Max Family Society Malaysia (Max Family), the local patient support group in the country and The Max Foundation will be leading the 2nd Patient Congress for People Living with CML. The congress is part of the Malaysia National Haematology Scientific Meeting. This time, it will be held in Kuching, East Malaysia.
The patient congress is made possible thanks to support from the Malaysian Society of Haematology. As well, Novartis Malaysia is recognized as a key sponsor of Max Family’s patient initiatives. This year, AirAsia is also extending their support by donating several free flight seats to enable patients who are having financial challenges to be part of the congress.
Over 65 participants are expected to join the patient congress; mostly cancer survivors and caregivers from East Malaysia – Sarawak and Sabah. This is the first time that a patient meeting of this large scale is taking place in the town. Speakers include counselors, haematologists, and pharmacists who are very much involved in the care of CML survivors in Malaysia.
The team in The Max Foundation Malaysia office and Max Family core group are excited and well-prepared for Kuching!
