In recognition of the genetic change of Chromosomes 9 and 22 which causes chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), patient organizations within the community have united by proclaiming September 22 as International CML Awareness Day. The aim of proclaiming September 22nd as an annual International CML Awareness Day is to raise awareness about the importance of timely access to diagnosis, treatment and care for people living with CML. To find out more about events being held worldwide and to see more "Faces of CML" visit the CML Advocates Network.
For 9/22, The Max Foundation has put together two video messages:
The first video is an interview with Pat Garcia-Gonzalez, Executive Director of The Max Foundation on the topic of advocacy within the CML community.
The second video is an interview with Dr. Jerry Radich of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute giving a brief update on CML.
We, at The Max Foundation are proud to be part of this worldwide patient group initiative and take this as an opportunity to renew our commitment to helping to raise awareness about the needs of people living with CML everywhere.
Wishing all our friends around the world enjoined with us for International CML Awareness a day full of hope, appreciation, advocacy and awareness!
