Join Chai for Cancer USA

In India, Chai Addas (tea parties) are gatherings where friends and neighbors come together to drink tea and socialize. With Chai for Cancer USA, our community across the United States is invited to raise a cup of chai and come together in a virtual adda by taking the Chai Five challenge by Chai for Cancer Day, May 14th. The Chai Five is a list of 5 ways you can help raise awareness for the needs of cancer survivors in India while raising funds for their support.

The funds raised through Chai for Cancer USA supports a program of Friends of Max, The Max Foundation’s patient support arm in India.

Create a Fundraiser

There many ways to support The Max Foundation, and one very festive way is by designating a special occasion of your own, such as a birthday, as a chance to fundraise on behalf of our organization.

So far, friends of The Max Foundation have ‘donated’ wedding anniversaries, graduation parties and birthdays to our cause. Instead of gifts, they collect funds for The Max Foundation to make their occasions even more meaningful.

As an example, each year Pat Garcia-Gonzalez, The Max Foundation’s CEO donates her birthday to The Max Foundation. Her friends and family send contributions to The Max Foundation in honor of her birthday. “For a while, I stopped being excited when my birthday came around each year,” says Pat “but now that I see it as an opportunity to give back to The Max Foundation, my birthday is fun again!”

Knit Hats for Kids

Children receiving chemotherapy treatment often experience the devastating side-effect of losing their hair. In addition, these courageous patients and their families are often subject to long hospital stays during treatment with few comforts and limited emotional support.

For more than 5 years now, friends nearby our headquarters in Seattle and across the country have sent us handmade knit hats for children. As soon as we have a nice collection, hats get tagged “With Love In Every Stitch” and sent to team members and patient organizations who personally hand them out to children and families in local hospitals.

Are you interested in making knit hats for children facing cancer? Contact us.

Is your patient association interested in participating in With Love In Every Stitch by hand-delivering hats to children in your community? Write to us to learn more.
