The Max Foundation stands with Black lives
The Max Foundation stands in solidarity with Black, indigenous, and marginalized communities, and those demanding justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Aubrey, Tony McDade, Nina Pop, and countless others who were killed in the United States due to systemic racism. Unequivocally, Black Lives Matter.
We are on a continuous path of learning, listening, and addressing racial injustices inside and outside the global health nonprofit sector. While we are proud of having diverse leadership, staff, and Board, we know we must do more to fight racism and promote equality. We have committed to the following steps to ensure we continue to be part of a solution and openly confront our biases within our organization:
- Hold a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training for our U.S.-based headquarters staff at least once a year.
- Incorporate DEI as an initiative of our Community Engagement Committee.
- Aim to maintain a diverse staff and Board of Directors to reflect the diverse communities we serve.
We know more is needed, and there is much work to be done. But this work is critical and we MUST move forward doing our part to promote equity for the marginalized and underserved communities we serve worldwide.
